Jakarta — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto recently concluded his working visit to Brazil, where he attended the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Prabowo’s debut as president at the international event has been widely regarded as a success in advocating for global collaboration.
Co-Founder of the Institute for Security and Strategic Studies (ISESS), Khairul Fahmi, highlighted Prabowo’s leadership role in the MIKTA forum—comprising Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey, and Australia—which underscored the importance of inclusive cooperation in addressing global challenges.
“Indonesia, with its immense potential, plays a key role in strengthening multilateral partnerships to address issues such as climate change, food security, and sustainable development,” Khairul said to reporters on Wednesday (11/10).
Khairul noted that Indonesia’s diplomacy at the G20 demonstrated how the country leverages soft power and strengthens relations with ASEAN nations and strategic partners to enhance its global influence.
Through inclusive and collaborative partnerships like MIKTA, Khairul added, Indonesia can reinforce its role in resolving major global issues.
“This forum serves as the perfect platform for Indonesia to showcase its contributions toward creating better policies for the global future,” he said.
The MIKTA meeting concluded with an agreement to foster more inclusive and responsive cooperation on global issues. The leaders reiterated their commitment to a safe, peaceful, just, equitable, inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous world. They also called on all UN member states to adhere to the UN Charter and resolutions, including those adopted by the Security Council.
“MIKTA leaders agreed to seek pragmatic and creative solutions to regional and global challenges, recognizing that the well-being of future generations depends on the willingness to take joint action,” the MIKTA leaders declared.
During the G20 Summit, Prabowo urged all member countries to take decisive action in building food security as a collective effort to reduce poverty and hunger.
Additionally, Prabowo held bilateral meetings with several world leaders to discuss opportunities for cooperation with Indonesia. (RR)
