Jakarta – Just one day after the inauguration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, citizens across Indonesia have enthusiastically begun hanging portraits of the newly sworn-in leaders for the 2024-2029 term in schools and homes.
At SMAN 1 Palembang on Monday (October 21), a video uploaded by TikTok user @caaakk_06 showed a student helping to hang a picture of Prabowo in their classroom.
“Finally, after a long wait. Good luck with your duties, Mr. President,” the account captioned.
Similarly, TikTok user @Riya posted a video of her mother putting up a photo of President Prabowo in their home. In the video, Riya’s mother can be seen asking whether there are stores selling Prabowo’s portrait, expressing her desire to hang his photo in their house.
“Is anyone selling a photo of Prabowo?” she asked.
“Yes, Mom, lots of people are selling them. Do you want to buy one?” Riya responded.
“Yes, I want to buy one to hang in the house. We’ve never hung a photo of a president before. This is the first time we’ll hang a photo of Mr. Prabowo and Gibran in the house,” her mother replied.
At SDN 1 Neglasari, a group of 4th-grade students joyfully put up pictures of Prabowo and Gibran in their classroom. In a TikTok video shared by user @sahabathaqiqi, the students expressed their gratitude to former President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) for his leadership over the past decade.
“For the past 10 years, Mr. Jokowi has watched over us in 4th grade. Now, it will be Mr. Prabowo’s turn to watch over us,” the account wrote.
Another TikTok user, @masdenybagong, posted a video thanking Jokowi and saluting him for his service, before replacing his portrait with Prabowo’s.
“Thank you, Mr. Jokowi,” the caption read.
Finally, TikTok user @aamaruf shared their excitement about seeing Prabowo’s portrait hanging in schools for the next five years.
The trend of proudly displaying photos of President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran reflects the enthusiasm of citizens following their inauguration.
