Jakarta — Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto personally escorted Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape to his car after a visit to his office at the Ministry of Defense on Monday (15/7). The meeting focused on ideas and strengthening cooperation between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. Prabowo expressed his appreciation for James’s visit as the head of state to the Indonesian Ministry of Defense.
Prabowo walked James to the front of the car. James then thanked the President-elect for 2024-2029.
“Thank you, Mr. President (elect),” said James to Prabowo, smiling and shaking hands.
Prabowo also expressed respect and gratitude for James’s visit and his delegation. Holding James’s arm warmly, Prabowo invited him to wave together in front of the media.
“Thank you,” said Prabowo.
After the afternoon meeting, Prabowo stated that there are many areas in which cooperation between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea can continue.
“There are many areas in which we can continue to cooperate. They are committed to working with us,” said Prabowo.
Additionally, he revealed that the national philosophy of Papua New Guinea aligns and resembles that of Indonesia.
“We want to maintain good relations. They share the same philosophy as us. They want to respect all countries, all powers. We have almost the same view, to respect all nations. We do not want to join any blocs,” said Prabowo.
