My fellow countrymen,
I have been closely following developments over the past few days, especially the incident that took place last night, where a demonstration escalated into acts of anarchy.

There was also an incident in which an officer struck an online motorcycle taxi driver, which resulted in the death of the late Affan Kurniawan last night.

On behalf of myself and on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, I extend my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy.

I am deeply concerned and saddened by this tragedy. The government will ensure the welfare of his family and provide special attention to his parents, siblings, and relatives.

My fellow countrymen,
Once again, I am shocked and disappointed by the excessive actions of the officers.

I have ordered that last night’s incident be thoroughly and transparently investigated, and that the officers involved must be held accountable.

If it is found that they acted beyond propriety and existing regulations, we will take the strictest action in accordance with the law.

In such situations, I urge the public to remain calm and place their trust in the government I lead.

The government I lead will do its best for the people. All public grievances will be recorded and followed up.

I also call upon the entire Indonesian nation to remain vigilant. There are elements who constantly seek disorder, who seek chaos.

I must convey to all our people that such actions bring no benefit to the people, no benefit to society, and no benefit to our nation.

Our nation is in the process of improving itself. Our nation is gathering all its energy, all its strength, all its resources so that we can rise and build a strong and prosperous country, one that succeeds in overcoming poverty and hunger.

We will become an advanced nation, we will become a self-reliant nation, standing on our own feet. We will become an industrialized country, not inferior to other nations.

For this reason, we must remain vigilant, we must remain calm, and we must not allow groups who wish to incite unrest and riots.

Legitimate aspirations may certainly be expressed. We will make improvements wherever necessary.

That is my message.
