Jakarta – President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has initiated a policy requiring all television stations to broadcast the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, every day at 6 a.m. The move has been met with widespread public approval.
This positive reception was evident in comments on an Instagram post by @infokomando about Prabowo’s plan, which was flooded with praise from netizens.
“This is right! Many people forget their identity as INDONESIANS,” the account wrote.
Netizens echoed similar sentiments in the comment section, emphasizing the importance of the national anthem in fostering patriotism.
“Indonesia Raya must be played frequently to cultivate love for the country. We can’t let Indonesians forget their national anthem while knowing Korean or Indian songs better,” commented @nasrul_rasyidi212.
“It should also be played in public spaces to create moments for respecting our national anthem,” suggested @jatnikax84.
“In the early 2000s, when I was in elementary school, every TV station would play the national anthem around 5:30 or 6 a.m. daily. It became a daily ritual before school,” recalled @lutfibachtiyar93.
“Why didn’t you become president earlier, Sir?” wrote @angga_indoo.
Some even proposed extending the initiative by broadcasting Garuda Pancasila every evening at 7 p.m. “And at 7 p.m., let’s bring back the Garuda Pancasila anthem,” suggested @muhammadinsuh.
On TikTok, similar support was seen in comments on a post by @andreayudias, which also highlighted the plan to broadcast Indonesia Raya.
“TOTALLY AGREE,” wrote @mas-masbiasa, a comment that received nearly 7,000 likes.
“It shouldn’t just be Indonesia Raya. Other national songs should be included too, because many Gen Z kids don’t know their national songs anymore,” added @alsier.
The public’s overwhelmingly positive response highlights the significance of this initiative in fostering national pride and identity. (RR)
