Prabowo Subianto Visits Muhaimin, Analysts Predict: ‘PKB Likely to Return’

Prabowo's visit to Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin)

Jakarta — Political analyst Igor Dirgantara has revealed potential signs that the Partai kebangkitan Bangsa (PKB) might rejoin the coalition with the newly elected president, Prabowo Subianto, after Prabowo’s visit to Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) at the PKB headquarters on Wednesday (April 24).

According to Igor, following the Constitutional Court’s decision and the announcement of the plenary session results by the General Elections Commission (KPU) for the President and Vice President for the 2024-2029 term, political maneuvers by parties to join the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet are expected to intensify.

“Coalitions in Indonesia are not about ideology but rather about pragmatic matters, which are ‘who gets what, when, and how,'” Igor stated.

For PKB, Igor mentioned, it might be true what Prabowo said some time ago that “PKB will make a comeback.” Igor also noted that PKB’s return would not be surprising, considering that it initially was part of the ‘Indonesia Maju’ Coalition before shifting to the ‘Perubahan’ Coalition with Nasdem to support the Anies-Muhaimin ticket.

“The presence of Anies-Muhaimin during the KPU’s declaration of the elected President and Vice President also confirms the possibility of PKB and Nasdem joining the Prabowo-Gibran administration,” Igor added.

Moreover, Igor emphasized that the majority of PKB’s constituents prefer them to be part of the Prabowo-Gibran Cabinet rather than being outside the government as opposition.

Prabowo had previously stated on September 2, 2023, at a Gelora Party event, that PKB would “make a comeback,” confidently and calmly reassuring that ‘PKB will return.’

“But don’t worry, they (PKB) will return, because we consider everyone as our brothers,” Prabowo said.

At the end of his political speech, Prabowo also recited a meaningful poem, signaling his desire not to forget old friends.

“Satu dua cempaka biru, tiga empat dalam jambangan. Kalau ada teman baru, teman lama dilupa jangan,” Prabowo concluded.
