Jakarta – Prabowo Subianto, the Chairman of the Gerindra Party and Indonesia’s president-elect, has made a firm commitment to eradicate corruption, which has long been a serious issue in the country.
Prabowo emphasized this commitment during his speech at the closing of the Gerindra Party’s National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) held at Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta, on Saturday, August 31.
“All indicators show that we are on the verge of an extraordinary resurgence. The key is that we must reduce corruption. If possible, we should eliminate it in a short time, or at least significantly reduce it. We will not compromise with corruption,” Prabowo asserted.
As a concrete step towards combating corruption, Prabowo pledged to allocate a special budget dedicated to the eradication and pursuit of corrupt individuals.
“I will review the budget again. I will set aside a special budget for the eradication and pursuit of these corruptors,” he said.
“Even if they flee to Antarctica, I will send special forces to track them down in Antarctica,” Prabowo added emphatically.
In line with his commitment to fighting corruption, Prabowo also called on all elements of the nation to join in combating smuggling and addressing the narcotics problem.
“We must also work together to combat smuggling, especially the smuggling and sale of narcotics. I am determined to lead the fight against narcotics,” Prabowo concluded. (RR)
