Tangerang — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir, to ensure a 10% reduction in airline ticket prices during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holiday season. Prabowo also mandated that no price increases occur for train and sea transportation tickets to maintain affordability and convenience for the public.
“I have been directed by President Prabowo Subianto to ensure that airfare prices drop by 10% during Nataru. Furthermore, the President has also instructed that there be no price hikes for train and sea transportation tickets during this period,” Erick Thohir stated at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, on Friday (December 20).
Erick explained that he has already coordinated with the CEOs of Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, and Pelita Air to implement the President’s directive.
“As per the President’s instructions, the 10% airfare reduction is under control. With an airport capacity of 8 million passengers, we still have flexibility, even though today saw a peak of 180,000 passengers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport,” Erick clarified.
In addition, Erick assured that capacity for land and sea transportation during Nataru is sufficient and reiterated that there will be no ticket price increases for these modes of transport.
“There will be no ticket price increases for either trains or ships,” Erick confirmed.
The measures aim to safeguard the purchasing power of citizens and provide them with a safe and comfortable holiday travel experience.
