Prabowo Subianto Donates 20,000 Hectares of Private Land for Elephant Conservation in Aceh

Jakarta — President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto announced his decision to donate 20,000 hectares of his personal land to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) for the purpose of elephant conservation in Aceh.

The announcement was made by the Head of the Presidential Communications Office, Hasan Nasbi, following a cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (2/12).

“This initiative follows a request from WWF, which was conveyed by the King of England. They asked President Prabowo for land to be designated as a conservation area for elephants,” Hasan stated.

Hasan further elaborated that the original request was for 10,000 hectares, but Prabowo took the initiative to double the allocation.

“At first, they requested 10,000 hectares in Aceh for the elephant conservation area. However, President Prabowo responded by donating 20,000 hectares of his own land, which will be managed by WWF,” he explained.

It is worth noting that Prabowo has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental conservation, encompassing flora, fauna, and ecosystems. He has emphasized the importance of preserving nature as a priority for future generations.

Prabowo’s dedication to environmental sustainability is also reflected in one of the 17 priority programs under his leadership in the Cabinet Merah Putih, which includes a comprehensive commitment to environmental preservation.
