Jakarta — President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has vowed to confront corruption head-on, declaring that age will not stand in the way of his commitment to justice and good governance.
Speaking at the Fourth Congress of Tunas Indonesia Raya (TIDAR), the youth wing of the Gerindra Party, on Saturday (May 16), the 73-year-old president affirmed his determination to uphold the law and root out corruption at every level.
“I am 73 years old. All I want is to leave behind a good name,” Prabowo told the audience at Hotel Borobudur in Jakarta. “I will fulfill my duty, I will uphold justice, and I will fight all forms of corruption in this republic—without exception.”
He emphasized that his actions are grounded in the oath he took to uphold the 1945 Constitution and all existing laws of the Republic of Indonesia.
“I have sworn to uphold the 1945 Constitution and every applicable law, and I will honor that oath,” he said. “Whoever breaks the law, whoever defends practices that cause harm—those individuals will be held accountable. The wealth of the nation must be used to the fullest extent for the prosperity of the people.”
Prabowo’s remarks underscore a broader commitment to reform and accountability as his administration seeks to bolster public trust and deliver on promises of clean, effective governance.
