Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has invited US investment legend Ray Dalio and a number of prominent Indonesian businessmen to discuss the Danantara Investment Board at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Friday (7/3).
‘I think you are in a position to speak to us openly and also critically. I think we do need critical advice,’ Prabowo said.
‘I think we do need critical advice. We always need critical advice and also the courage to learn from each other. I think this is the key,’ he continued.
In addition, Prabowo also gathered Indonesian economic figures in the private sector who have decades of experience in business and investment.
The meeting was opened by Prabowo at 2pm. Prabowo invited a number of big names in the business world in Indonesia, such as Andi Syamsuddin Arsyad (Haji Isam), Tomy Winata, Chairul Tanjung, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, James Riady, Prajogo Pangestu, Garibaldi Thohir, Sugianto Kusuma (Aguan), Hilmi Panigoro, Franky Oesman Widjaja, and Anthony Salim.
Danantara’s CIO Pandu Sjahrir, COO Dony Oskaria were also present. Also present were Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadia, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani and Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wakyu Trenggono.
‘We invite all parties who can give us critical views, their experiences, how they make investments,’ Prabowo said.
The purpose of the meeting was to listen to the best advice and input for Danantara’s future and how to manage Indonesia’s assets so that they are maintained and can be managed properly for the people.
‘So that later the management of Indonesian assets can be carried out as well as possible, as carefully as possible, and that later all our economic entities are carried out with efficiency that can compete with all entities in the world,’ Prabowo continued.
Prabowo hopes that in the future Danantara will move quickly and precisely and move carefully and thoroughly.
‘We will move quickly but we will move very carefully and cautiously,’ Prabowo concluded.
Previously, Prabowo also invited and received eight big businessmen at the Jakarta Presidential Palace on Thursday, 6 March 2025. The eight businessmen include
Anthony Salim, Sugianto Kusuma, Prajogo Pangestu, Boy Thohir, Franky Widjaja, Dato Sri Tahir, James Riady, and Tomy Winata.
Yesterday’s meeting also took place by discussing a number of strategic issues, namely the free nutritious meal priority programme, infrastructure, strengthening the textile industry, to food and energy self-sufficiency.
