Jakarta – A number of ministers in the Red and White Cabinet gathered at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta on Monday (3/2) to discuss PT Sritex.

During the meeting, Prabowo’s directive for ministers to seek a way out for PT Sritex employees who were laid off was discussed.

Attending the meeting were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.

‘At the direction of the President, the President is very concerned about how the government will find a way out, especially regarding the problems that will befall the workers at PT Sritex,’ said Prasetyo.

Mr Prasetyo said Mr Prabowo had briefed ministers several times so that the problems that have befallen Sritex since it was declared bankrupt in October 2024 could be addressed immediately.

‘There are approximately 8,000 employees to be able to return to work with a new scheme, but we hope in the field that has been worked on. This means that PT Sritex will continue to work in the textile sector,’ Prasetyo explained.

On the same occasion, Minister of Manpower Yassierli appreciated the curator’s steps that could ensure that in the next 2 weeks former Sritex workers could be rehired.

‘The Ministry of Manpower also appreciates the various commitments and steps taken by the curator as mentioned earlier that in the next 2 weeks workers will be rehired. This can certainly provide peace of mind to workers affected by layoffs,’ he said.

Furthermore, Yassierli also said that Prabowo’s commitment to support and provide direction is expected to provide peace to PT Sritex employees.

‘This can certainly provide peace of mind to the workers affected by layoffs. Currently, the Ministry of Manpower is guarding the rights of PT Sritex Group workers in the form of rights to layoff compensation and various other normative rights so that they are still fulfilled,’ he said.

At the same moment, the PT Sritex Curator Team said that currently the process of making decisions on investors who will manage Sritex’s assets next with a new scheme so that later they can rehire Sritex employees.

‘We have also communicated and there are also investors who have contacted the curator and we are already in the process of communication which in two weeks the curator will decide who the investor will rent the Sritex assets, which will absorb labour which can also be employees who have been laid off can be rehired later by the new tenant,’ said Nurma Sadikin.
