London — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s arrival in London, England, was eagerly awaited by Indonesian students studying in the UK on Wednesday (11/20).
Upon his arrival at the hotel where he is staying, Prabowo was presented with a bouquet of flowers by a welcoming representative. There, he was greeted by a group of students from the Indonesian Students Association (PPI) London.
“As the PPI team, we’ve been preparing since 6 a.m., and some even started at 4 a.m., to organize food and documents to ensure Mr. Prabowo’s visit runs smoothly,” said Tessalonika Sitorus, a student at Queen Mary University of London majoring in LLM Commercial and Corporate Law.
Swara Reiki January, Chairperson of PPI London and a student at Goldsmiths University of London, expressed her excitement about meeting Prabowo in person.
“That was one of the most unforgettable experiences. It can’t be replaced. I’ve never met the President before, and meeting him just now really made me even more motivated to study,” said Reiki.
Nicholas Chang, a student at Bayes Business School majoring in BSc Finance Hons, shared similar sentiments.
Although Nicholas did not get the chance to shake hands or take a photo with Prabowo, he said that helping prepare for Prabowo’s visit was a remarkable experience.
“We’ve been preparing for three days in advance. We were part of the advance team, covering everything from the airport to the hotel where Mr. Prabowo is now staying,” he said.
Prabowo’s visit to the UK continues his series of international working visits. Prior to this, he traveled to China to meet President Xi Jinping, the United States to meet President Joe Biden, Peru for the APEC forum, and Brazil for the G20 Summit. (RR)
