Jakarta – The Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto, attended the ‘Halal Bihalal and Graduation Celebration of Akabri Alumni 1971-1975 of 2024’ at the Ministry of Defense in Jakarta, on Saturday (4/5).
The meeting, held as part of a reunion, began with an evening parade ceremony marked by the lowering of the red and white flag and a moment of silence. The event continued with a meet-and-greet followed by a dinner.
In front of hundreds of Akabri alumni, Prabowo started the conversation by expressing apologies for any wrongdoings, hoping this moment would strengthen bonds of friendship.
“Since it is still the month of Shawwal, we are conducting this Halal Bihalal. On behalf of those present, we apologize for any misdeeds. We hope to continue to weave ties of friendship, unity, and solidarity,” said Prabowo.
He mentioned that unity and solidarity are precious values that must be fiercely safeguarded. Prabowo also called on the Akabri alumni to continually strive to give their best to the country.
“Unity and solidarity are extremely valuable. If maintained, our country will continue to be enduring, strong, and everlasting,” he stated.
Prabowo remarked that the struggles undertaken by the Akabri alumni from their youth need to be maintained as examples to be passed down to future generations.
“We remember our youth and are proud of the generations ready to continue our struggle,” he said.
“We will do our best for the future of our nation, and we want to leave the best example for the next generation,” Prabowo firmly added.
At this event, the 6th President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), who was also present, shared his impressions and messages.
“Old soldiers never die. Our bodies may not be as strong as before, but we still offer our spirit to Pancasila, to the sovereignty of the state and the integrity of NKRI. We will not be absent and will continue to stand in support of the nation in carrying out its vision and fundamental matters,” said SBY.
In addition to SBY, the celebration was attended by several retired dignitaries, including General TNI (Ret) Wiranto, General (Ret) Hendropriyono, General TNI (Ret) Agum Gumelar, Admiral TNI (Ret) Slamet Subianto, Marshal TNI (Ret) Joko Suyanto, Marshal TNI (Ret) Imam Sufaat, General TNI (Ret) Endriantono Sutarto, General TNI (Ret) Ryamizard Ryacudu, General Pol (Ret) Sutanto, General TNI (Ret) Agustadi, General TNI (Ret) Dudung Abdurachman, and General TNI (Ret) Andika Perkasa.
Also present were Mrs. Wismoyo Arismunandar, Mrs. LB Moerdani, and other senior Akabri alumni from the classes of 1971-1975 from both the military and the police.
