Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto announced the Hari Raya Bonus (BHR) for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers and couriers. This is a form of special attention from the government for these drivers.
Prabowo announced this in a press conference with GoTo CEO Patrick Walujo and Grab CEO Anthony Tan at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (10/3).
‘This year the government pays special attention to online drivers and couriers who have made important contributions and supported transport and logistics services in Indonesia. For this reason, the government appeals to all application transportation service companies to provide Hari Raya bonuses in the form of cash by considering the livelihood of workers,’ Prabowo said.
Prabowo said the government will regulate the provision of holiday bonuses from companies that house online drivers and couriers to provide BHR in the form of cash with active work. Currently, there are approximately 250,000 active online courier drivers and 1 million to 1.5 million part-time workers.
‘The amount of the mechanism will be negotiated and will be conveyed by the Minister of Manpower through a circular letter,’ Prabowo said.
He also hoped that this policy would have a positive impact on ojol drivers and thanked all parties who helped realise this policy.
‘Ladies and gentlemen, I hope that with this policy, workers and online drivers can experience holidays and homecoming and Eid al-Fitr in good conditions. I would also like to thank the Minister of Manpower, Minister of Transportation, State Secretariat, Cabinet Secretariat and also company leaders for their good cooperation and I would like to thank online drivers wherever you are,’ Prabowo concluded.
