Head of the Development Control and Special Investigation Agency (BAPISUS), Aries Marsudiyanto, emphasised the importance of budget efficiency and corruption eradication in all regions, during the Regional Head Retreat forum at the Magelang Military Academy attended by more than 1,000 regional heads and regional officials.

In his presentation, Aries reminded that the potential leakage of the regional budget could reach 30%, so that all regional heads must dare to carry out budget efficiency and stop the habit of waste.

It is time for the regional budget to be focused on programmes that really touch the needs of the people. There should be no more budget for luxurious working visits, comparative studies, or consultations with no clear benefits,’ said Aries.

Aries also encouraged regional heads to develop local potential based on the strengths of their respective regions, both mountainous, agricultural, and coastal areas, in order to create superior products and create jobs.

‘Don’t just rely on the APBD, but explore the potential of the regional economy, such as marine products for coastal areas, or agricultural commodities for mountainous areas. Regional heads must be the driving force of the local economy,’ he emphasised.

As part of the national synergy, BAPISUS has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Home Affairs, ensuring that supervision down to the level of regents and governors is effective.
‘We at BAPISUS will continue to coordinate with regional inspectorates, governors, and regents, so that there is no more room for irregularities. All regional heads must work honestly, professionally, and for the benefit of the people,’ said Aries.

Aries also emphasised that BAPISUS does not work alone, but will synergise with the legal apparatus and other oversight institutions. He reminded all law enforcement officers not to fear threats or interventions, and to uphold the law and the interests of the people.
As an experienced figure in strategic military operations and close to President Prabowo since the beginning of his career, Aries brings a spirit of perseverance and decisiveness to his role at BAPISUS.
