Jakarta – The Minister of Defense and President-elect of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, attended the annual session of the MPR/DPR held at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Friday (16/8).

One of the agenda items during the annual session was the state of the nation address delivered by President Joko Widodo. In his speech, Jokowi touched upon the transition of leadership and his hopes for Prabowo Subianto.

“To the President-elect, Mr. General TNI (Ret.) Prabowo Subianto, next year, God willing, you will deliver the state of the nation address,” said Jokowi.

Jokowi further stated that he would hand over the baton of leadership to Prabowo during the presidential inauguration on October 20, 2024.

“On October 20, 2024, allow me to pass this leadership baton to Mr. Prabowo Subianto,” said Jokowi.

Concluding his address, Jokowi entrusted the aspirations and hopes for the Prabowo Subianto – Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration. He expressed his wish that the Prabowo-Gibran government would always find ease and smoothness in leading the nation.

“Allow me also to hand over all the hopes and dreams of the Indonesian people from Sabang to Merauke, from Miangas to Rote Island, from the peripheries, from the outermost regions, from villages and from city centers to you (Prabowo),” Jokowi concluded.

He is confident that with the current spirit of unity and cooperation, as well as sustained continuity, Indonesia can become a strong and sovereign nation. Jokowi mentioned that Indonesia is poised to leap forward and achieve its grand vision of becoming a ‘Golden Indonesia’ by 2045.
