France — Indonesian Defense Minister and president-elect Prabowo Subianto met with International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach at the Hotel Du Collectionneur in Paris at 3:00 PM local time on Saturday (27/7).
Prabowo’s arrival was warmly greeted by Thomas Bach.
“Mr. President-elect! It is a great honor,” said Bach.
Prabowo responded with a greeting. “Thank you for having me,” Prabowo said.
Bach then invited Prabowo to sit in the designated spot, and they continued with a discussion about the Paris 2024 Olympics.
“How many countries are participating?” Prabowo asked.
“206 countries,” Bach replied.
During the same occasion, Prabowo also engaged in diplomacy to promote Pencak Silat as an Olympic sport.
The meeting concluded with a photo session and the exchange of souvenirs.
“It is a great honor, thank you,” said Prabowo.
Accompanying Prabowo in the meeting were Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo, and Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) Chairman Raja Sapta Oktohari.
