Jakarta — Every morning, Juwita breathes a little easier. She no longer worries about paying for her son Fachri’s school uniforms, textbooks, or even daily meals. Since the launch of the People’s School (Sekolah Rakyat) program in the 2025–2026 academic year, the financial burden that once weighed heavily on her has begun to lift.
“I’m so grateful. My son has become more diligent, and now he speaks to us, his parents, with more respect. It makes me emotional—he’s become more independent too. At home, I used to wash his clothes, but here, he does it himself,” Juwita shared during a visit to Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama 6 Jakarta on Monday (August 4).
Fachri has been living in the dormitory for nearly a month. The changes he’s shown aren’t just about independence, but also a healthier daily routine. “Here, his vitamins are taken care of, his meals are guaranteed. I’m very thankful to the President,” she said.
“My son is happier now, and he’s much more enthusiastic,” she added.
Dian, another parent whose son Aditya attends the same school, expressed similar gratitude. For her, Sekolah Rakyat was the answer to her prayers—for her son to learn discipline and for her family to find financial relief.
“I’m really happy. I think this is the only way my son can learn to stand on his own, to become more mature than he was before,” she said, her voice full of emotion.
According to Dian, the transformation is visible not only in Aditya’s attitude but also in his physical well-being.
“Thank God, he’s gained a little weight and looks much cleaner now. He used to be so hard to feed—even getting him to eat twice a day was a struggle. But here, everything’s on schedule—meals, activities, prayers, and Qur’an study. I’m just really thankful because Sekolah Rakyat has helped us so much,” she explained.
For parents like Juwita and Dian, Sekolah Rakyat isn’t just an education program. It’s a lifeline for working-class families who have long struggled to afford proper schooling for their children.
“I’m so thankful to President Prabowo Subianto—especially because now my son’s education is fully supported, from meals to uniforms to notebooks. As a parent from a lower-middle-income background, I truly appreciate it,” said Juwita.
Dian was also overcome with emotion as she expressed her gratitude. “Thank you to the President for creating Sekolah Rakyat, and for making it possible for my son to be here. All I can do is say thank you. I hope he continues to succeed, stays healthy, is blessed with abundant fortune, and that his family is always well. A thousand thank-yous to him,” she said sincerely.
For families like theirs, Sekolah Rakyat is more than just a place of learning. It is a space of renewed hope—where the weight of life is a little lighter, children grow into independent individuals, and the future feels just a bit more certain.
