Paris – Indonesian Defense Minister and president-elect for the 2024-2029 term, Prabowo Subianto, visited the FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) office in Paris, France, on Saturday (27/7). He was warmly welcomed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Starting his visit, Prabowo was taken on a tour of several rooms in the FIFA Paris office by Infantino, including the room where the World Cup trophy is kept.
“This is the famous (trophy). The original trophy, the trophy for the winners. Beautiful and magical,” Infantino explained.
“And this (trophy) is for women, the women’s World Cup,” he added.
Additionally, Prabowo had the opportunity to see the trophy first awarded to the World Cup winners in 1930. Infantino explained that the trophy was then stored at the FIFA office.
“This is the first World Cup trophy. The first World Cup was in 1930. Brazil won the World Cup three times. When they won it for the third time, we (FIFA) kept this trophy and replaced it,” the FIFA President explained.
Concluding his visit to the FIFA Paris office, Prabowo received several souvenirs, including a pennant, a miniature World Cup trophy, and a ball inscribed with the name ‘Prabowo Subianto.’
“And secondly, of course, this is special. The official Olympic match ball, but there is only one in the world,” said the FIFA President as he presented the souvenir ball to Prabowo.
“Thank you, thank you. I hope we can meet again,” Prabowo responded.
Indonesian officials accompanying Prabowo on his visit to the FIFA Paris office included PSSI Chairman and Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, as well as Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo.
