Bandar Seri Begawan — President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto received a warm welcome from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah during his working visit to Brunei Darussalam on Wednesday (May 14). The reception took place at the Istana Nurul Iman, the Sultan’s official residence.
In his remarks, President Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the hospitality extended by the government and people of Brunei Darussalam. Speaking on behalf of Indonesia, he conveyed his deep appreciation for the gracious reception.
“First of all, on behalf of myself and on behalf of the people of Indonesia, I would like to extend my deepest thanks and highest appreciation for the extraordinary welcome we’ve received today during this state visit,” said Prabowo.
The President went on to say that Brunei is a country he has long been familiar with and where he always feels at ease.
“I’ve visited Brunei Darussalam many times over the years and have grown quite familiar with this beautiful nation. I always feel very comfortable here—so much so that I wish I could stay longer,” he said with a smile. “But as President, I have a very full schedule. In fact, later tonight I must return to the Indonesian Parliament to deliver an address.”
President Prabowo’s visit to Brunei includes a bilateral meeting with government delegations from both countries to discuss strengthening cooperation across various sectors.
As part of the official program, President Prabowo will also receive one of Brunei’s highest state honors, the Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama Yang Amat Dihormati, which will be personally conferred by His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.
