Bangkok — President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto received a warm and ceremonial welcome from Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra upon his arrival at Government House in Bangkok on Monday morning (May 19). The Indonesian leader was honored with a red carpet reception and a full military salute from the Thai government.
President Prabowo arrived at 10:03 a.m. local time and was greeted with a firm handshake from Prime Minister Paetongtarn. The two leaders then walked side by side toward the ceremonial platform, where President Prabowo offered a salute to the rows of military personnel standing at attention.
As part of the state ceremony, Thailand’s military band performed Indonesia’s national anthem, “Indonesia Raya,” followed by Thailand’s national anthem, “Phleng Chat Thai.”
Government House in Bangkok serves as the official office of the Thai Prime Minister and is the country’s main administrative headquarters—akin to Indonesia’s State Palace.
During the reception, President Prabowo introduced members of the Indonesian delegation, including Foreign Minister Sugiono, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Indonesia’s Ambassador to Thailand, Rachmat Budiman.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn, in turn, introduced top Thai officials accompanying her, including Deputy Prime Ministers Phumtham Wechayachai and Anutin Chanvirakul, as well as ministers Chusak Sirinil, Jiraporn Sindhuprai, Tawee Sodsong, Akanat Promphan, and Deputy Minister Paopoom Rojanasakul.
Following the welcoming ceremony, the two heads of government proceeded into Government House for a bilateral meeting aimed at strengthening strategic cooperation across various sectors between Indonesia and Thailand.
