Rio de Janeiro — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, along with MIKTA leaders, shared camaraderie and showcased unity during the second Leaders’ Gathering at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM), Rio de Janeiro, on Monday (11/18) local time.
MIKTA is a consultative forum comprising five countries: Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey, and Australia. It was established in 2013 during the 68th UN General Assembly in New York, United States, when the foreign ministers of the member countries convened on its sidelines.
During the gathering, Prabowo was seen engaging in lively conversations with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol.
“It seems like we should host a MIKTA Summit in Mexico City,” Prabowo remarked to the MIKTA leaders, eliciting laughter from the group.
President Sheinbaum warmly responded, “Thank you. Please do come.”
It was agreed during the meeting that the next MIKTA Summit would indeed take place in Mexico.
“Viva Zapata!” Prabowo enthusiastically exclaimed, referring to Emiliano Zapata, a revolutionary leader and symbol of equality for the underprivileged in Mexico.
President Sheinbaum echoed his sentiment with her own call of “Viva Zapata!”
Prabowo and the other MIKTA leaders then posed for a group photo and affirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation on various global issues.
“MIKTA leaders agreed to seek pragmatic and creative solutions to regional and global challenges, recognizing that the well-being of future generations depends on the willingness to take joint action,” stated the leaders of MIKTA. (RR)
