Jakarta – Ana Yohana, one of the guardians of an elementary school student in West Jakarta, expressed her gratitude for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program that was held for the first time on Monday (6/1).
The mother of a grade 1 elementary school student expressed her joy when interviewed by foreign media, Al Jazeera. Ana admitted that she felt helped and hoped that President Prabowo Subianto’s program can continue.
“Alhamdulillah, this helps us. We usually have to work hard to prepare food every morning, and now we don’t,” Ana said, as quoted by Al Jazeera news portal.
MBG was implemented simultaneously in 190 points spread across 26 provinces on the first day. The program to fight malnutrition is targeted to reach 82.9 million children and pregnant women by 2029.
Kitchens for Free Nutritious Meals are managed by the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) which is directly appointed by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). SPPG is the MBG program implementation unit in charge of supplying food to program beneficiaries.
SPPG works closely with a nutritionist and an accountant to ensure the quality of nutrition, the cleanliness of the kitchen and the smooth distribution of food. (RR)
