Jakarta – Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the arrival of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) office on 31 December 2024 at the end of the year was an extraordinary and historic moment.

Sri Mulyani Indrawati said it was the first time a president had come to see the closing of the 2024 State Budget (APBN).

‘For the first time, a president came to the Ministry of Finance to see the closing of the State Budget book,’ Ms Sri Mulyani Indrawati said at the inauguration of the Indonesia Stock Exchange’s (IDX) Trade Opening in 2025, Thursday (2/1).

She said Mr Prabowo’s visit was not ceremonial, but he wanted to see for himself the situation of the state budget implementation at the end of the year.

‘His visit was extraordinary because it was a working visit, not a ceremonial visit so we worked as usual to close the fiscal year and he was present and even interacted directly with all of us, with all officials and gave directions,’ said Ms Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

Sri Mulyani also revealed that the 2024 State Budget was closed much better with a deficit close to the initial State Budget Law of 2.29%.

‘This is an extraordinary result, smaller, much smaller than the semester report which was predicted at 2.7%, much smaller,’ said Sri Mulyani.

‘We close the 2024 State Budget relatively healthy, safe and it is a strong provision to enter 2025,’ she continued. (RR)
