School-Based Free Health Screening Program (CKG Sekolah) Launched: A Long-Term Investment in Child and Adolescent Health

Jakarta, August 3, 2025 — The government of Indonesia is set to launch the School-Based Free Health Screening Program (CKG Sekolah) on Monday, August 4, 2025, in a coordinated kick-off across 12 schools in various regions.

According to Adita Irawati, Senior Expert at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), the CKG Sekolah initiative reflects President Prabowo Subianto’s vision to build high-quality human capital for Indonesia’s future.

“CKG Sekolah is a long-term investment in the health of children and adolescents,” Adita stated on Sunday (August 3).

The program is part of the President’s Fast-Impact Priority Initiatives in the health sector and represents a significant step in transforming the national healthcare system toward a preventive and promotive approach.

“The government is committed to ensuring that all Indonesians are healthy and have access to essential healthcare services,” she added.

Since its initial launch on February 10, 2025, the broader CKG Program has reached 16,120,365 individuals as of August 1, 2025. The program’s ultimate target is to serve 281 million people, encompassing the entire population of Indonesia.

Of that total, 53.8 million are school-age children, who will be reached through the CKG Sekolah initiative. This demographic includes students from approximately 282,000 educational institutions, covering elementary, junior and senior high schools, Islamic madrasahs, and People’s Schools (Sekolah Rakyat).

The program began targeting Sekolah Rakyat on July 14, 2025, and starting Monday, August 4, will expand to schools under the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education as well as the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Previously, Hasan Nasbi, Head of the Presidential Communication Office, explained that the CKG Sekolah program is designed to shift public health behavior—from seeking care only when sick to embracing routine health screenings even while healthy.

“Even when people feel healthy, they are now encouraged to visit healthcare facilities for free checkups—to prevent future health issues before it’s too late,” Hasan stated.

The PCO commended the Ministry of Health for its effective execution of the CKG Sekolah program. Hasan emphasized that President Prabowo is strongly committed to instilling healthy lifestyles from an early age. The government, he noted, is proactively reaching out to schools to examine the health status of children—the nation’s future generation.

“We hope that through early screening, potential health risks in children can be detected before they lead to more serious problems later in life,” Hasan concluded.
