PSPP Begins: Students No Longer Study in Fear, but Prepare to Build Golden Indonesia

Banyumas, May 2, 2025 – The rush of eager footsteps filled the entrance of SDN 02 Purwokerto Wetan on the morning of Friday, May 2, 2025. Today, the students received joyful news: their school would finally be renovated.

For years, the strong enthusiasm for learning among these children had been clouded by fear—fear that their classroom roofs might collapse whenever heavy rains and strong winds struck.

Embun (11) admitted that she often felt anxious when it rained, especially when accompanied by strong winds.
“When it rains hard, I usually move my seat closer to the door because I’m afraid the leaking roof might drip on my head,” said the fifth grader.

Embun’s situation is not unique. Across Indonesia, many students face the same reality—learning in damaged, unfit classrooms. To address this, on National Education Day 2025, President Prabowo Subianto launched the fourth installment of his Accelerated High-Impact Results Program (PHTC): the School Facilities Revitalization and Learning Digitalization Program (PSPP).

“We must repair as many schools as possible throughout Indonesia in the shortest time possible. This is something I constantly discuss with my ministers,” said the President during his address at SDN Cimahpar 5 in Bogor, West Java.

The government has allocated IDR 17.1 trillion in 2025 to gradually repair infrastructure in 10,440 schools.

According to Hariqo Satria, Senior Expert at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), today marks real evidence of the government’s commitment to fulfilling the Fourth Asta Cita, which is the development of Indonesia’s human resources.

“We want to achieve Golden Indonesia 2045, so we must ensure that children here can study safely and comfortably to become high-quality human capital. It is unrealistic to expect quality learning if it takes place in fear,” Hariqo said at SDN 02 Purwokerto Wetan.

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education confirmed that School Facilities Revitalization (PSPP) officially begins today across all levels of education—from early childhood (PAUD) to high school (SMA).

Jumeri, Senior Educational Supervisor at the Ministry, stated that the first phase of PSPP begins in Banyumas Regency.

“This is the pilot stage. For starters, two elementary schools in Banyumas will undergo revitalization and digitalization. We’ll later assess which other schools require intervention,” said Jumeri.

One of the first schools to be renovated is SDN 02 Purwokerto Wetan. Built in the 1980s, its facilities have become dangerously run-down. Several roof sections leak, metal vents are rusting, and decaying ceilings pose serious safety and comfort risks to students.

Suryani, Principal of SDN 02 Purwokerto Wetan, assured that the PSPP would not disrupt learning activities. Over the next four months, students will attend classes at a nearby school building. Her priority is that students continue learning in a safe and peaceful environment while renovations are underway.

In addition to the infrastructure overhaul, the school will receive a Smart Classroom Package, including interactive whiteboards. After training provided by the Ministry, teachers at SDN 02 Purwokerto Wetan are expected to offer more engaging digital learning experiences.

“The students responded enthusiastically. They really enjoy the new learning methods. The lessons are easier for them to understand,” said Rizky Nursyifa, a teacher at the school.

The rollout of PSPP complements other key human capital development programs, such as Free Nutritious Meals and Free Health Checks, which were launched earlier. These initiatives, as part of the broader PHTC agenda, aim to lay a strong foundation for nurturing healthy, intelligent, and globally competitive children.

As President Prabowo emphasized, to become a great nation, we need quality education. Let us unite in supporting the PSPP as a crucial milestone toward achieving Golden Indonesia 2045.
