JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conducted a cabinet reshuffle on Monday (19/8/2024). The Presidential Palace stated that this reshuffle was carried out to prepare for the smooth and effective transition of government from Jokowi to the President-elect, Prabowo Subianto.

“The appointment of ministers, deputy ministers, and heads of agencies is necessary to prepare and support the transition of government so that it runs smoothly and effectively,” said Ari Dwipayana, Coordinator of the President’s Special Staff, in his statement on Monday (19/8/2024).

Ari mentioned that the ministers to be inaugurated by Jokowi include the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham), Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), and Minister of Investment. Additionally, the former governor of Jakarta will also appoint the Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo), the Head of the National Nutrition Agency, the Head of the Presidential Communications Office, and the Head of the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM).

“Today, Monday, 19 August 2024, at 09:30 WIB, the President is scheduled to inaugurate several ministers, deputy ministers, and some heads of agencies at the State Palace,” said Ari.

However, he declined to reveal the identities of those who will be appointed as ministers, deputy ministers, and agency heads.

“As for the names of the ministers, deputy ministers, and heads of agencies to be inaugurated, just wait until 09:30 WIB later,” Ari added.

Earlier, there were reports about the ministers who would be reshuffled this morning, including Menkumham Yasonna H Laoly, who will be replaced by Supratman Andi Agtas, Minister of ESDM Arifin Tasrif to be replaced by Bahlil Lahadalia, and the seat of Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) vacated by Bahlil will be filled by Rosan Roeslani.
