Jakarta — Indonesia’s 8th President, Prabowo Subianto, officially inaugurated a total of 53 ministers and heads of institutions as part of the Merah Putih Cabinet for the 2024–2029 term at the State Palace in Jakarta, on Monday (October 21).
The inauguration ceremony commenced with the national anthem “Indonesia Raya,” followed by the reading of the presidential decree and the list of names appointed as ministers and their respective positions.
The ministerial appointments were based on the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia No. 133/P of 2024 concerning the Formation of State Ministries and the Appointment of Ministers for the Merah Putih Cabinet for the 2024–2029 period.
“Before I administer the oath of office for your appointment as ministers of the Merah Putih Cabinet for the 2024–2029 term, as Attorney General, Head of BIN (State Intelligence Agency), Chief of Presidential Staff, Deputy Chief of Presidential Staff, Head of Presidential Communication Office, and Chairman of the National Economic Council, are you ready to take the oath according to your respective religions?” President Prabowo asked the ministers and heads of institutions.
In unison, the ministers and institutional leaders expressed their readiness and took the oath according to their faiths.
“Ready!” the ministers and heads of institutions answered in unison.
Prabowo then read the official oath, which was repeated by the ministers and high-ranking officials:
“I swear to be loyal to the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia of 1945, and will carry out all laws and regulations as earnestly as possible for my service to the nation and the state. I pledge to uphold the ethics of my position, work to the best of my ability, and take full responsibility,” stated Prabowo, followed by the newly appointed ministers.
Following the oath-taking, the event proceeded with the signing of the appointment documents.
The inauguration ceremony concluded with a group photo session with the ministers of the Merah Putih Cabinet at the Merdeka Palace. (RR)
