Brussels, 13 July 2025 — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, met with His Majesty King Philippe Leopold Louis Marie of Belgium at the Royal Palace of Laeken in Brussels on Sunday (13 July). Upon arrival at the palace, President Prabowo was warmly received by King Philippe.
The two leaders proceeded into the palace and paused briefly for an official photo session in the main hall of the historic building.
“Your Majesty, thank you,” said President Prabowo, extending a handshake to King Philippe.
“Pleasure to meet you,” responded King Philippe.
In a cordial atmosphere, President Prabowo and King Philippe then held a private one-on-one meeting.
Accompanying the President at Laeken Palace were Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Belgium, Andri Hadi.
The meeting with King Philippe marked the final engagement in President Prabowo’s series of high-level meetings during his state visit to Belgium.
Following the meeting, King Philippe personally saw President Prabowo off as he departed for Brussels Airport. President Prabowo then continued his journey to Paris, France, to attend the Bastille Day celebrations on Monday (14 July) as a guest of honour.
Earlier during his visit to Brussels, President Prabowo also held strategic diplomatic meetings with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council António Costa.
These meetings underscored Indonesia’s active diplomatic efforts to finalize the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which is expected to strengthen economic ties between Indonesia and the European Union.
