Singapore – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Singapore on Sunday night (June 15) to begin a state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two neighboring nations.
The Presidential aircraft carrying Prabowo and a limited delegation touched down at Paya Lebar Air Base at around 9:00 p.m. local time. In a mark of high diplomatic honor, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong personally greeted the Indonesian leader at the foot of the aircraft stairs.
“Thank you. Thank you very much. Terima kasih,” said Prabowo with a warm smile as he shook hands with the Prime Minister.
Following the arrival ceremony, Prime Minister Wong accompanied President Prabowo to his official vehicle before the delegation proceeded to the hotel where the President will be staying during his visit.
Joining the welcoming party were Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore’s Ambassador to Indonesia Kwok Fook Seng, Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Suryo Pratomo, and Indonesian Defense Attaché to Singapore Colonel Hendra Supriyadi.
The visit is part of President Prabowo’s broader diplomatic agenda and will include a state meeting with Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, as well as the annual Leaders’ Retreat with Prime Minister Wong.
Accompanying the President on this visit are Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Beyond reaffirming the close Indonesia–Singapore relationship, the visit is expected to open new avenues of cooperation in key sectors including the economy, investment, defense, and digital transformation—deepening ties between two of Southeast Asia’s most strategic partners.
