Jakarta — President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto welcomed Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday (11/8), in a state ceremony enlivened by the participation of around 3,000 elementary to high school students from across the capital.

President Boluarte’s motorcade, escorted by 17 motorcycle troops and 60 mounted guards, made its way from the National Monument (Monas) to the gates of the palace.

Upon arrival, Boluarte was greeted personally by Prabowo. The two leaders stood on the ceremonial podium as the national anthems of Peru and Indonesia were played in turn.

Following the anthems, they inspected the honor guard and paid respects to their respective national flags.

Prabowo and Boluarte then introduced members of their official delegations. Accompanying Prabowo were Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan P. Roeslani, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The two heads of state later held a bilateral meeting aimed at strengthening relations between Indonesia and Peru.

Peru, located on the western coast of South America, shares membership with Indonesia in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), a forum for multilateral and economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.

This meeting follows Prabowo’s official visit to Peru late last year, making Boluarte’s trip a reciprocal gesture in the ongoing diplomatic exchange between the two nations.
