Klaten, Central Java — July 21, 2025 — President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering the people’s economy through the establishment of 80,081 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives across the country.
In his remarks during the official launch of the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives, President Prabowo emphasized the urgent need to shorten supply chains so that low-income communities can access essential goods at fair and affordable prices.
“These 80,000 cooperatives represent a major initiative to shorten the distribution chain—the flow of essential goods to the people,” said Prabowo.
Through these cooperatives, the government aims to establish village-level infrastructure such as warehouses, pharmacies, and retail outlets, with the core mission of delivering affordable generic medicines, fertilizers, and staple foods directly to the hands of the people.
“Essential medicines must be accessible to the people—especially those in economically vulnerable communities—at affordable prices,” he added.
President Prabowo also called for strict oversight and legal action against fraudulent practices in the distribution of staple goods such as rice and cooking oil. He highlighted that the government now has access to artificial intelligence tools and quality control laboratories in many regions, enabling faster detection of anomalies and price manipulation.
In closing, President Prabowo urged all components of the nation to unite in the pursuit of social justice, setting aside partisan and group interests.
“Let us uphold truth and justice. Let us prioritize the interests of the nation and the people above all else—not party or group interests. Let the red and white in our hearts guide our actions,” he concluded.
