Jakarta — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, called on newly commissioned officers of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) to always be at the forefront in setting the best example in their daily lives.
Speaking at the 2025 Oath-Taking and Commissioning Ceremony for TNI and Polri Officers at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (July 23), President Prabowo urged the young officers to internalize the oath of office they had just taken, treating it as a solemn commitment to serve the nation and the people of Indonesia.
“You have sworn a sacred oath before Almighty God and the people of Indonesia that you will serve as officers of the TNI and Polri. You have declared—earnestly and with full awareness—your willingness to sacrifice your life and body to defend this nation, our country, and our people,” Prabowo said.
He emphasized that the oath must be deeply understood—not merely recited as a formality, but lived out as a manifestation of integrity and readiness to sacrifice for the good of the nation.
“Please take to heart the words you have spoken. Today, before the people of Indonesia and before Almighty God, you have pledged your life and your soul to the nation. You, the newly commissioned officers—sons and daughters of the nation’s finest—stand before me as president and as the supreme commander of the armed forces, declaring that you are ready to die for this country,” he stated.
The President reminded the officers that great responsibility now rests on their shoulders, including the duty to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and the security of its people.
“The sovereignty of the nation, the dignity of the nation, and the safety of the people now rest upon your shoulders. The people await your service, your dedication—and, if necessary, your ultimate sacrifice,” he said.
In his address, Prabowo also revisited the long and difficult road of Indonesia’s struggle for independence, a journey marked by tremendous sacrifice.
“Our nation is one forged through struggle. We won our independence with blood, sweat, and tears. And we must be prepared, because our country will inevitably face challenges and threats. If we are not strong, we will be crushed by others, we will be divided, and we will be forced to bow to the interests of foreign powers,” he warned.
