Jakarta — The latest survey from Litbang Kompas, conducted in September 2024, reveals that the rapid and strategic preparations made by President-elect Prabowo Subianto in the lead-up to his administration have significantly contributed to the high level of public confidence. The survey highlights that Prabowo’s positive image stands at 84.1%, with widespread support across various demographics, including both men and women, and individuals from lower, middle, and upper economic backgrounds, as well as those with varying education levels.
“One key factor contributing to the growing public confidence is the swift preparation for the government transition. Prabowo-Gibran’s leadership has tactically prepared the transition by forming the Prabowo-Gibran Synchronization Task Force at the end of May 2024,” the Litbang Kompas report notes in its publication on October 19, 2024.
This task force was created to ensure the smooth continuation of governance by aligning the incoming administration’s programs with those of the outgoing Jokowi-Ma’ruf administration. Several members of the task force have also been involved in Jokowi’s cabinet, ensuring continuity in development initiatives.
Another key factor noted by the survey is the organized, planning-based approach that Prabowo has taken in assembling his cabinet. Just days before his inauguration, Prabowo gathered his prospective cabinet members for an in-depth briefing.
“This move not only builds cabinet solidarity but also demonstrates Prabowo-Gibran’s commitment to preparing a clear development strategy,” the Litbang Kompas report added.
The candidates who participated in the briefing shared their impressions, with many praising the detailed and visionary nature of Prabowo’s approach. Amran Sulaiman, one of the prospective ministers, remarked on how Prabowo’s vision emphasized team strength to achieve significant goals.
“This is incredible. The briefing covered geopolitics, economics, GDP growth, and more. What’s most important is Prabowo’s message of building a strong team to realize his grand ideas. He is very visionary,” said Amran.
Meutya Hafid, another participant, echoed similar sentiments, noting how Prabowo emphasized the importance of teamwork and readiness for future challenges.
“The president-elect reminded us that the road ahead is not easy, and we must all be prepared and work quickly, keeping up with both domestic and global developments. The challenges ahead require quick action, and we’re very optimistic,” Meutya explained.
Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus, a Golkar Party politician, praised Prabowo’s approach as a breakthrough. He lauded the quality of the information provided during the briefing, which included insights on global situations and teamwork.
“In my opinion, this is a breakthrough from President-elect Prabowo Subianto. We received briefings on global situations, geopolitics, and teamwork, which were crucial for building strong collaboration between deputy ministers and heads of government bodies,” Lodewijk remarked.
This focus on solid preparation, teamwork, and a vision for the future is seen as key to Prabowo’s successful transition and the high level of public confidence in his administration. (RR)
