Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s policy of eliminating bank debt for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by 2025 will cover around 1 million MSME players with a total value of Rp 14 trillion.
This was announced by Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman at the Bogor Presidential Palace, Friday (3/1).
‘Our target is to abolish all of the approximately 1 million loans so that all of them can be white again. They can get loan facilities again,’ he said.
He explained that in the initial stage, 67,000 MSMEs will benefit from this programme with a total debt value of Rp 2.4 trillion.
‘As discussed by the President, in the second week of January, next week. We will launch the programme, and we will invite 3,000 people to get their bills written off,’ said Maman.
Maman emphasised that there are no financial issues that occur in the Himbara banks that conduct the write-off.
‘If they have been included in the write-off list, they are blacklisted because they are unable to afford it, and they end up from the administrative record, it will also harm the bank. And the 1 million people are also various, some have died, some don’t know where they are. But there are those who are still recorded and want to have access to further financing, of course they need to be whitened, so they are included in the list,’ he explained.
It is known that the elimination of receivables to MSMEs is stipulated in Government Regulation Number 47 of 2024 concerning the Elimination of Bad Debts to MSMEs. This regulation was signed on Tuesday 5 November 2024. (RR)
