Jakarta – Indonesia’s President-elect, Prabowo Subianto, declared that unity is the fundamental key to the success of a nation.
This statement was made following a private meeting with NasDem Party Chairman Surya Paloh at Prabowo’s residence on Jalan Kertanegara, Jakarta, on Thursday (15/8).
“I wish to reemphasize that I view unity as essential for the success of our nation,” Prabowo stated firmly.
“For this reason, I am pleased to welcome NasDem’s readiness to join us in serving our country,” he continued.
During the meeting, which lasted over three hours, Prabowo also mentioned that a mutual agreement had been reached.
“This afternoon, I had the honor of receiving a visit from Mr. Surya Paloh, a long-time friend. Mr. Victor accompanied the NasDem chairman. We discussed several issues and agreed to collaborate effectively to meet future challenges,” Prabowo said.
Meanwhile, Surya Paloh remarked that the discussion between him and Prabowo was quite intense. He expressed a determination to do everything possible to ensure the success of the upcoming government.
“NasDem is committed with all its resources to the success of this administration,” stated Surya Paloh.
He also hoped that NasDem’s joining would not burden the coalition. “I also hope that it will not add a burden but, God willing, be a part of what lightens it,” he added.
