Jakarta — Khairul Fahmi, an analyst and Co-founder of the Institute for Security and Strategic Studies (ISSES), views Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s initiative to study Brazil’s Free Nutritious Meals program as a prime example of diplomacy benefiting public welfare.
Prabowo made this statement during his working visit to Brazil to attend the G20 Summit 2024 in Rio de Janeiro.
“One of the significant steps taken by Prabowo during his visit to Brazil is his intention to learn about a successful social program that has addressed hunger in Brazil, namely the provision of free nutritious meals for children,” Khairul said to reporters on Wednesday (11/20).
He emphasized that this form of diplomacy could help the Indonesian government address poverty and improve social welfare.
“This program demonstrates how Indonesia’s economic diplomacy can support its people’s well-being by learning from and adopting policies that have been proven effective in other countries,” he explained.
Khairul expressed hope that implementing a Free Nutritious Meals program in Indonesia could significantly reduce social inequality and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
“Indonesia has the potential to reduce the large social disparities and improve the quality of life, especially in underdeveloped areas,” Khairul concluded. (RR)
