Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed his wish that the results of budget savings made by his administration can be invested in industrial projects that can create jobs.
Prabowo made the statement in his remarks at the launch of the Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) Investment Management Agency (BPI) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (24/2).
‘We have proven our commitment to managing the country’s wealth with discipline, strict finance, and responsible governance. In the first 100 days of the government that I lead, we managed to secure more than Rp300 trillion, almost $20 billion in state savings funds, which were previously hampered by inefficiency, corruption, and poorly targeted spending,’ Prabowo explained.
‘Now, those funds will be allocated to be managed by Danantara Indonesia, invested in 20 or so national projects, as part of our industrialisation and our downstream. High-impact projects, which will create significant added value for our nation, creating real benefits, quality jobs and long-term prosperity for the people of Indonesia,’ he continued.
Prabowo further explained that Danantara is not just an investment management agency. More than that, Danantara is expected to be an instrument of national development that will optimise the way the nation manages its wealth for the welfare of all Indonesians.
The President is also determined to manage Danantara Indonesia in a transparent manner. ‘I and the government that I lead, supported by a solid coalition, are determined to build a clean government that is free from corruption,’ Prabowo said.
On the same occasion, he also affirmed his commitment and will do everything in his power to fight corruption in Indonesia, indiscriminately. (RR)
