Kuala Lumpur – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Twin Tower Petronas, Kuala Lumpur, Monday (27/1).
On this occasion, the two leaders agreed to resolve bilateral issues, including labour issues that were agreed to be disciplined.
‘We will resolve bilateral issues. We also agreed to regulate labour issues. In all fields, we have agreed to increase cooperation,’ Prabowo said after the meeting.
Prabowo further said that the meeting also discussed palm oil, in which both countries are the world’s largest producers of palm oil at around 80 per cent.
‘We are also the largest palm oil producers between Indonesia and Malaysia. Maybe we produce 80 per cent of the production. And it turns out that palm oil is a very, very important commodity. Every time I go to certain countries they always say they need palm oil. Egypt, India, Pakistan, all of them. So I think we can do a lot of good. And thank you for the continued support from Malaysia in these matters. I think that is important,’ Prabowo explained.
Prabowo’s visit to Malaysia was to fulfil the invitation of the King of Malaysia, Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim. Prabowo’s arrival was received with a guard of honour ceremony at the State Palace Parade Ground, starting with the singing of the national anthems of both countries, followed by 21 cannon shots as a sign of respect.
Following the ceremony, Prabowo attended an audience with Sultan Ibrahim, where he was also awarded the Darjah Kerabat Johor Yang Amat Dihormati I (The Most Esteemed Order of the Johor Royal I). (RR)
