Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto acknowledged concerns among his ministers in the Merah Putih Cabinet about working under his leadership, citing his reputation as a strict and demanding leader.
“To be honest, I’m proud of the team that supports me. In the beginning, they were apprehensive about working for Prabowo Subianto—they said I’m tough,” Prabowo shared during the 2024 National Christmas Celebration at the Indonesia Arena, GBK, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (December 28).
“If they’re not doing the right thing, yes, I’ll be tough. If someone is trying to steal from the people, I’ll be tough,” he asserted.
Despite his reputation, Prabowo expressed pride in his ministers, recognizing their efforts to help him steer the government. He also conveyed confidence that the people understand his good intentions in leading the nation.
“In these first two months and eight days, I’ve seen progress. Of course, there’s some noise here and there, but that’s normal. The people know who’s telling the truth and who’s not,” Prabowo said.
He urged the public to be patient as the government works to fulfill its promises and implement its programs.
“I ask all Indonesians to be patient for a little while longer. I understand it’s hard to be patient, but I’m doing my best,” he said.
Prabowo likened the government’s efforts to planting a crop, which requires careful preparation, nurturing, and time before yielding a harvest.
“God willing, the harvest will be good, and we will face the challenges ahead. I’ve reminded everyone repeatedly: challenges will come,” he added.
One of these challenges, Prabowo noted, is resistance from corrupt individuals who oppose efforts to reform Indonesia.
“Corruptors don’t want to see an Indonesian government trying to improve itself. They’ll stir up issues and create disruptions,” he explained.
Prabowo concluded with a message of determination and faith, urging the public to trust in his leadership and commitment to building a more prosperous nation.
“Believe that the Almighty has blessed us with extraordinary gifts. As a son of this nation, sworn before God, I am determined to use all the strength in my body and soul to fight for our people,” Prabowo affirmed.
