Prabowo Subianto Stresses Fight Against Corruption: Don’t Protect Members Who Are in the Wrong

Bogor – President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating corruption without bias or favoritism. He delivered this message during his speech at the 60th-anniversary celebration of the Golkar Party at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor, West Java, on Thursday evening (12/12).

“Every institution has good and bad elements. Don’t let misguided loyalty protect our members when they are in the wrong. Every institution must be willing to sacrifice,” said Prabowo.

“I call on everyone, especially those who have strayed, to return to the right and honest path,” he added.

Prabowo urged all sectors, both government and business, to obey the law. He highlighted various reports of resource mismanagement and illegal activities that harm the nation.

“I’ve seen reports—too much of our wealth is smuggled abroad: illegal mining, report manipulation, refusal to pay taxes, and failure to meet obligations to the state while benefiting from public facilities. These practices will stop,” Prabowo asserted.

As Chairman of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo emphasized that he has made it clear to all Gerindra members not to engage in corrupt practices. He warned that he would personally take action against those who betray the people.

“I always remind my party, Gerindra: just because you are part of Gerindra, don’t think you can act recklessly and expect the party to protect you. It won’t happen,” Prabowo declared.

“To governors, mayors, and regents who betray the people, I’m sorry, but I will be the first to take action against you. That’s what I tell my party,” he added.

Prabowo concluded by urging everyone to uphold their reputations, referencing the proverb, “A tiger leaves its stripes, an elephant leaves its tusks,” to stress the importance of maintaining a good name.

“When we are called by God, all we leave behind is our name—whether it is good or bad. Always remember your reputation before you act,” Prabowo said. (RR)
