Cairo — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto addressed the D-8 Summit, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among member states to harness maritime resources for economic growth and the well-being of their citizens.
“Imagine if we fully concentrate on maximizing the potential of the blue economy. Our economies would become truly robust,” Prabowo stated during his speech at The New Capital President Palace in Cairo, Egypt, on Thursday (December 19).
He reiterated the transformative impact of the maritime economy, not only on strengthening economic resilience but also on delivering tangible benefits to the people.
“Our economies would not only become stronger but also deliver more meaningful advantages for our citizens,” he added.
Prabowo also stressed the critical need for unity among the D-8 member nations, drawing lessons from current geopolitical dynamics.
“Once again, we must learn from the geopolitical situations unfolding around us. Without unity, without overcoming our differences, we cannot achieve strength,” Prabowo declared.
He urged the member nations to set aside differences and prioritize collective welfare.
“We must unite. We must work together to foster unity. We must rise above our differences and seek the prosperity of our people. Without unity and integration, we will remain weak. And if we are weak, we will be exploited—that is the law of history,” Prabowo concluded.
