Jakarta — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, urged financial authorities and policymakers in the financial sector to act wisely and responsibly in safeguarding the people’s money.
He conveyed this message during his address at Bank Indonesia’s Annual Meeting held at Graha Bhasvara Icchana, Jakarta, on Friday evening (29/11).
“We must protect the people’s money. We must act wisely and responsibly because this is the blood and sweat of the Indonesian people—hundreds of millions of citizens working very hard,” said Prabowo.
“You are entrusted with the wealth of the Indonesian people. You carry trust and credibility on your shoulders. Your duties and responsibilities are not light,” Prabowo emphasized.
He highlighted that financial management is a vital component of a nation’s sovereignty and independence. Addressing the Governor of Bank Indonesia, the Minister of Finance, the Chairman of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and other financial sector stakeholders, he stressed the weight of their responsibilities.
“If I may use military terms, you are like four-star generals. The sovereignty and independence of the Indonesian nation lie on the front lines with you. I remember that, and we must remain vigilant,” Prabowo concluded. (RR)
