Jakarta — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto revealed that several world leaders have expressed interest in studying the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, which his administration has been promoting since January 6, 2025.
Prabowo made this statement while opening a Plenary Cabinet Meeting with ministers and deputy ministers of the Merah Putih Cabinet at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday (March 21) afternoon.
“I have received letters from world leaders. They want to learn about MBG (Free Nutritious Meals), even though we’ve only just begun because we are the most serious in our efforts,” Prabowo said.
He also urged the Head of the National Nutrition Agency to think creatively and accelerate the distribution of MBG, emphasizing the people’s urgent need for the program.
“I ask the Head of BGN and all relevant officials to think innovatively and creatively. If we can speed it up, whether by using a hybrid system or some other method, we should do so because our people are in great need,” he stated.
Prabowo stated that the MBG program has reached 3 million beneficiaries in three months. However, he acknowledged that some citizens have complained about not yet receiving the program’s benefits.
“This is something that weighs on my heart. Some people hear that the neighboring village has received it, or that a nearby school has benefited. I tell them, ‘Ma’am, we are doing everything in our power, but we cannot do it all at once. Our country is very large—please be patient,’” Prabowo said. (RR)
