Jakarta – The President-elect of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term, Prabowo Subianto, has announced that he is ready to resume activities following the successful surgery on a long-standing leg injury incurred during his military service. He shared this news in a post on his personal Instagram account @prabowo on Sunday (June 30).

“God willing, with my health restored, I am more prepared than ever to serve and dedicate myself to the country and the people of Indonesia. Thank you to everyone for their prayers and support,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo revealed that the injury was the result of two parachuting accidents while he was actively serving in the Indonesian National Armed Forces in the 1980s.

“As many are aware, I experienced two parachuting accidents in the 1980s during my service in the military, which affected my left leg, and I have continued to feel the effects of these injuries,” he explained.

Prabowo expressed his gratitude to Allah SWT and thanked the medical team that treated him, including Brigadier General (Ret.) Dr. Robert Hutauruk, Colonel Dr. Sunaryo, Dr. Siska Widayati, assisted by Dr. Thomas, and all the nurses and medical staff at the National Defense Central Hospital (RSPPN) Panglima Besar Soedirman, Bintaro, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta.

This hospital, which was inaugurated in February by Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Prabowo, is under the supervision of the Ministry of Defense. It was renovated and equipped by Prabowo along with 25 other military hospitals.

“I am aware and understand that the medical procedure I underwent was filled with risks and life-threatening stakes. I reassured myself that all of this was for the country and the nation, and I trust that the medical team and all the medical personnel handling it are skilled and professional,” he stated.

He also expressed his gratitude to Jokowi for the support throughout his surgical process.
