New Delhi – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received a guard of honour during a state welcoming ceremony at India’s presidential palace, Rashtrapati Bavan in New Delhi, Saturday (25/1).

Prabowo arrived at around 10am local time. He was welcomed by Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Prabowo’s arrival was accompanied by 21 cannon shots. He then received a salute from the honour guard, including a number of horsemen. The procession was followed by the national anthem Indonesia Raya and the Indian national anthem.

Prabowo then inspected the guard of honour and greeted the Indian President and PM.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Komdigi Meutya Hafid, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, and high-ranking Indian officials were also present.

‘My deepest appreciation, I am very grateful that today I am officially invited in India,’ Prabowo said.

Prabowo said Indonesia considers India a very good partner. Prabowo also said that India was one of the countries that recognised Indonesia’s independence and supported Indonesia’s independence struggle.

‘We will not forget the support from India. I am very honoured today,’ he said.

Prabowo then revealed that tomorrow, Sunday, he will be the Chief Guest at the Republic of India’s Memorial Day.

‘Madam President, please allow me to express my gratitude. Honourable PM Modi. I am committed to promoting close co-operation and partnership with India. That is my will,’ he explained. (RR)
