Moscow – Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia’s Minister of Defense and President-elect, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Russia, on Wednesday, July 31.
Dressed in a suit and a black cap, Prabowo began the meeting by conveying greetings from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to Putin.
“I bring respectful greetings from my President, Joko Widodo, and I informed him that you would be receiving me,” Prabowo said.
During the meeting, Prabowo and Putin discussed various areas of enhanced cooperation between the two countries, including education, tourism, food security, defense, and nuclear energy.
“My primary emphasis is on food security, energy security, and education,” Prabowo stated.
Regarding the nuclear energy sector, Prabowo mentioned that discussions and studies are currently underway about the potential for cooperation with Russia.
In the tourism sector, Prabowo expressed his support for several initiatives by Russia, including the plan to open a Russian Consulate General in Bali.
Additionally, Prabowo extended an invitation to Russia to attend the defense exhibition to be held in Indonesia in November 2024.
