Jakarta – Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto expressed his appreciation for the United States’ support in the bilateral cooperation to modernize Indonesia’s defense equipment, aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).

This was conveyed by Prabowo during his meeting with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on the sidelines of the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue 2024 in Singapore, Saturday (1/6).

Prabowo stated that both countries recognize the importance of bilateral cooperation in defense modernization to effectively develop capabilities to face various threats.

“I express my appreciation for the United States’ support regarding cooperation in modernizing Indonesia’s defense equipment. This is crucial for the strengthening of the TNI,” said Prabowo.

He then thanked for the productive discussion between Indonesia and the US and hoped for ongoing collaboration and strengthening of ties between Indonesia and the US.

Following the RI-US bilateral meeting, Prabowo is scheduled to deliver a special address at the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue 2024.
