Rio de Janeiro — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on the second day of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Tuesday (11/19) local time.
The meeting between Prabowo and Macron took place at the Museu de Arte Moderna. They began the session by posing together, shaking hands warmly.
“How are you? Once again, congratulations on your inauguration [as President of Indonesia],” Macron said to Prabowo.
Prabowo responded with gratitude, particularly for Macron’s gesture of sending a special envoy from France to attend Prabowo’s inauguration on October 20.
“Thank you very much. And thank you for sending your special envoy,” Prabowo replied.
Macron expressed appreciation for Prabowo taking the time to meet with him.
“I am very happy to speak with you for a few minutes. This is a special day,” Macron said, to which Prabowo responded with thanks.
Prabowo was accompanied at the meeting by key members of his Cabinet, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
“Yes, we have significant cooperation with France. Many advances,” Prabowo said after the meeting.
Following the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Prabowo is scheduled to travel to the United Kingdom to meet King Charles III at Buckingham Palace.
From the UK, he will proceed to the Middle East for an official state visit before returning to Indonesia. (RR)
